Introduction
China has become one of the top destinations for international students due to its globally recognized universities, advanced research opportunities, and affordable education system. To study in China, Pakistani students must apply for a China Student Visa, which is categorized into two main types depending on the duration of study.
Document Checklist
Please have the following documents ready at the start of the process:
- Valid Passport (Must be valid for at least 1 year)
- Passport-Sized Photographs (White background)
- All Academic Certificates and Transcripts/Marksheets (Attested if required)
- Police Clearance Certificate
- Physical Examination Form (Foreigner Physical Examination Form)
- Recommendation Letters (Two for Master's/PhD, from your professors or employers)
- Language Proficiency Certificate (IELTS/TOEFL/Duolingo if available. Note: Some programs may require it, and we will notify you.)
- Statement of Purpose / Personal Statement
- CV / Resume (Especially for Master's and PhD applications)
- Study Gap Explanation & Experience Certificate (If applicable)
- Research Publications/Proposal (For PhD applicants)

Important Notes & Policies
- Interview Preparation: If the university requires an interview, the candidate is mandatorily required to prepare thoroughly. We can provide guidance on potential questions, but the performance and outcome depend on the candidate.
- Language Proficiency: While not always mandatory, having an IELTS/Duolingo certificate significantly strengthens your application for English-taught programs.
- Final Decisions: All admission and scholarship decisions are made solely by the universities. Study Ease acts as a facilitator and guide.
- Visa Approval: The final grant of a student visa is at the sole discretion of the Chinese Embassy/Consulate. Study Ease is not responsible for visa rejections.
Understanding JW201 & JW202 Forms
These are official forms issued by China universities to international students after admission:
- JW201 Form – For students awarded with a China government scholarship.
- JW202 Form – For self-financed students.
Your admitting university will send you the correct form after confirming your admission.
Foreigner Physical Examination Form (X1 Visa Applicants Only)
- Must be completed at a recognized hospital or clinic.
- Includes blood tests, chest X-ray, doctor’s signature, and official seal.
- Valid for 6 months only.
- Keep multiple copies as they may be needed during residence permit application in China.
Step-by-Step China Student Visa Application Process
- 1.Secure Admission – Obtain your admission letter and JW201/JW202 form.
- 2.Medical Examination – Complete the Foreigner Physical Examination (for X1 visa applicants).
- 3.Visa Application – Fill in the China student visa form (online or manual).
- Prepare Documents – Gather all required paperwork.
- 5.Book Embassy Appointment – Schedule a slot at the nearest China Embassy or Consulate.
- 6.Submit Application – Submit documents and pay the visa processing fee.
- 7.Processing Time – Wait for 4–10 working days (varies by embassy).
- Receive Visa – Collect your visa or receive it via mail (if service available).
Always book your appointment early, as slots fill quickly before the semester begins.
After Arrival in China (X1 Visa Holders)
- Convert your X1 Visa into a Residence Permit within 30 days of arrival.
- The university will guide you in registering with the local Public Security Bureau (PSB).
- The residence permit is usually valid for 1 year and can be renewed annually.
- Without this conversion, your stay will be considered illegal.
