Essential Documents for Chinese Student Visa
To apply for a Chinese study visa, students must prepare the following documents:
- Valid passport (minimum 6 months validity with blank pages)
- Recent passport-sized photographs (as per Chinese embassy requirements)
- Official admission letter from a recognized Chinese university
- Official admission letter from a recognized Chinese university
- JW201 or JW202 form (provided by the admitting university)
- Foreigner Physical Examination Form (mandatory for X1 visa)
- Proof of financial support or scholarship (if applicable)
- Visa fee payment receipt

These are official forms issued by Chinese universities to international students after admission:
- JW201 Form – For students awarded with a Chinese government scholarship.
- JW202 Form – For self-financed students.

Foreigner Physical Examination Form (X1 Visa Applicants Only)
- Must be completed at a recognized hospital or clinic.
- Includes blood tests, chest X-ray, doctor’s signature, and official seal.
- Valid for 6 months only.
- Keep multiple copies as they may be needed during residence permit application in China.

- The residence permit is usually valid for 1 year and can be renewed annually.
- Without this conversion, your stay will be considered illegal.
