Visa Validity and Duration of Stay

The Canada Visitor Visa is typically issued as a multiple-entry visa with a validity of up to 10 years, or until the expiry of your passport — whichever comes first. Within this period, visa holders may travel to Canada multiple times.

For each entry, visitors are generally permitted to stay in Canada for up to 6 months (180 days), subject to the discretion of the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officers at the port of entry.

This flexibility makes the Canadian multiple-entry visitor visa an excellent option for frequent travelers visiting for tourism, family visits, or business purposes. However, it is important to note that a visitor visa does not permit employment, long-term study, or permanent residence in Canada.

Canada Visit Visa Requirements – Required Documents

When applying for a Canada Visitor Visa, you are required to submit a complete set of documents to support your application and demonstrate your eligibility. Below is a detailed list of the key requirements:

Properly preparing and presenting these documents enhances your credibility and strengthens your Canada visitor visa application, assuring Canadian immigration authorities that your visit is temporary and genuine.

Canada Visit Visa Fees – Applicant, Spouse & Children

The Canada visitor visa fee is charged per person, and the same application fee applies to the main applicant, spouse, and each child. All fees are paid to IRCC in Canadian Dollars (CAD) and are non-refundable, even if the visa is refused.
Example — Family of 4 (applicant, spouse, and 2 children under 14): CAD $400 visa application fees (4 × $100) + CAD $170 biometrics (applicant $85 + spouse $85; children under 14 exempt) = CAD $570 total, excluding VAC service charges.
